What Happens in a Physiotherapy Session?
Knowing what to expect makes a first visit easier.
1. Conversation
You describe your problem, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and your medical history and goals.
2. Examination
Your physiotherapist checks posture, joint movement, muscle strength and, where relevant, nerve function.
3. Explanation and plan
Findings are explained in plain language with a suggested plan and likely number of visits. You decide what to go ahead with.
4. Treatment and exercises
Treatment may include hands-on techniques and exercises, and you receive a home programme.
What to wear
Loose, comfortable clothing that gives access to the painful area. Bring reports or scans if you have them.
