Is Hijama Safe?
Hijama can be done with low risk when performed by a trained practitioner with sterile, single-use equipment and proper screening. Like any procedure that breaks the skin, it carries risks.
Possible risks
- Skin marks and bruising
- Infection if hygiene is poor
- Light-headedness or fainting
- Prolonged bleeding in people on blood thinners or with clotting disorders
Questions to ask any practitioner
- Are cups and blades sterile and single-use?
- Do you ask about my medicines and health history?
- What aftercare will I get?
Who should avoid it or get advice first
Pregnancy, bleeding or clotting disorders, blood thinners, anaemia, low blood pressure, skin infection, and serious illness.
Hijama is complementary and does not cure disease. See Hijama therapy in Lahore.
