How to Prepare for Hijama

By Sabia Physiotherapy & Hijama Clinic · Last updated 2026-10-06

  • Eat lightly. A light meal a few hours before is generally advised. Avoid heavy meals, and avoid attending on a completely empty stomach.
  • Drink water in the hours before.
  • Tell the practitioner about medicines, especially blood thinners, and any health conditions or pregnancy.
  • Wear loose clothing that allows easy access to the back or shoulders.
  • Ask about hygiene. Sterile, single-use equipment should be used.
  • Skip if unwell with fever or infection, and reschedule.
